The Petauke Town Council has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development by engaging Ward Development Committees (WDCs) and councillors in a strategic meeting. The session aimed to enhance the effective implementation of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects.
The engagement focused on five key objectives: sensitizing WDCs on mainstreaming renewable energy projects in CDF implementation, reviewing the status of project applications versus approvals, discussing expectations for the 2026 CDF cycle, reiterating submission requirements, and updating the WDC database.
During his opening remarks, the Director of Human Resource and Administration, Mr. Kenneth Ngulube, who represented the Council Secretary, welcomed the participants. He emphasized the critical role WDCs play as the foundation of local government structures. He noted that as the council marks another year of service, it is essential to reflect on the progress made and work collectively to address community challenges.
“WDCs are the cornerstone of grassroots development, and their participation ensures that solutions are found within communities themselves. I encourage all of us to leave this meeting with a shared vision that will spearhead sustainable development across Petauke,” Mr. Ngulube stated.
The council further highlighted that renewable energy projects are a priority, in line with the government’s green development agenda. It urged WDCs to be proactive in identifying opportunities that respond to community needs.
Participants expressed their commitment to ensuring timely submissions, accurate record-keeping, and transparency in the application process as the district prepares for the next CDF cycle.
The Petauke Town Council reiterated its pledge to continue engaging stakeholders to strengthen accountability, inclusivity, and innovation in service delivery.
